What do you get when an inventor and an artist live side by side? Rolf Dunnink and Pieter Zandvliet who, in their spare hours, think up all kinds of things, creating works that catch the eye. It started with the painting of Rolf’s Artbar by Pieter and his Teekenclub, a group of artist friends. When the wall was finally finished, Rolf illuminated the wall with all kinds of lights, so that the work is continuously in motion. The bar has become a mix between a cozy cafe and a work of art. Many ideas from the neighbors arise in the bar. Rolf, for example, devised a fence for the facade garden of the Rotterdam shoe brand Mascolori, which consists of all kinds of shoes that the brand has released. The shoes have been cut out and Pieter has provided them with his art. Pop art avant la letre. Pieter designs prints for shoes from Mascolori, so you understand that a unique work of art has been created. Rolf was asked by Pieter if he could think of and make something so that it looks like people can sit in a giant shoe from Mascolori. And so a shoe with Pieter’s art was placed in front of the shop, with a two-person picnic table behind it. Rolf also made a kind of tower for Mascolori on which shoes could stand that rotates and has been refined by Pieter for the shop window. Another joint project is the old tools edited by Pieter so that the old works of art look like you have entered a candy store. In 2021 Pieter exhibited these tools in the Paltehof museum in Nieuwleusen.
